I’m reaching out to see if you would have interest in delivering to potential seniors that do not have transportation for CSFP (Commodity Supplemental Food Program) or ElderShare program for low-income seniors.  The difference in programs is household income and who subsidizes the program.

These are programs offered to seniors who are eligible via the Central Pennsylvania Food Bank.  Attached are additional details on both programs.  I’ve been in discussions with them and the Big Spring Senior Center in Newville, the distribution center for these programs.

There are currently about 8 households that are registered for these programs.  They pick up the boxes at the Big Spring Senior Center on the 3rd Monday of the month between 10-10:30 am.  There is a greater need to reach seniors who do not have access to transportation or are unable to drive.  I’m hoping to help meet this need with a team of volunteer drivers. Would you be willing to help deliver food boxes to the Newville and surrounding communities?  If so, let me know.

Pick up would be the 3rd Monday of the month at the Big Spring Senior Center.  Items are non-perishable except for cheese.  You would have approximate 10-day window to deliver the box of food, and each delivery would require a signature of recipient.  I’m hoping to get this off the ground and grow outreach so we would be learning together!

Let me know if you have any questions.  Thank you
